Brett and Jenny were going to the same church at the same time early in the year 2021, but somehow never got to know each other at church. Brett would see Jenny from a distance and wondered who she was. Jenny noticed Brett too, but their paths never quite crossed. The moment felt like it had passed.However, years later God made their paths cross again at the perfect time. It was the Lords timing. On a cold Thursday afternoon in January right after New Years at the Oxford Centre Plaza in downtown Pittsburgh, Brett decided to attend a Pittsburgh Experiment lunch led by Chris Buda. Jenny usually never worked in her office on Thursdays, but felt like she needed to go into town that day. She was there with her friend Taryn to get a bite to eat around lunch time.From across the room, Jenny saw Brett and swore she knew who he was. She thought he was extremely handsome and snuck a photo to send to their mutual friend to make sure it was him. What they both didnt know was that mutual friend tried to set them up on a blind date months prior. Taryn told her to go say hello, but she couldnt muster the courage to walk up to him in the middle of a formal looking meeting to introduce herself. But as she left, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she had missed something.She pulled out her phone, and noticed they were already following each other on Instagram since they attended the same church years ago. So, she sent him a DM. Brett couldn’t believe it. The cute girl he had secretly wanted to talk to and always wondered about years ago at church had just messaged him. He messaged her back and then asked her to join him for a night of live jazz music at Con Alma. She said yes, and that night changed everything.The moment Jenny walked through the door of Con Alma, Brett was all in. They spent the evening talking, laughing, and listening to music. At the end of the night, they both pulled out their phones to check where they had parked. They realize they had each taken almost the exact same pictures of their respective parking garages, so they wouldn’t forget where they had parked.That was the first of many serendipitous moments lead by Jesus that they would have. It was a funny moment, but it felt like more than just a silly coincidence. Like maybe they were already a little in sync.Their next date took them to an art gallery, The Mattress Factory. They wandered through art exhibits and walked through the rain between buildings. In the alley way, walking side by side in the rain, perfectly in step, something clicked for Brett. He felt the way she leaned into him and walked in step with his step, and he knew there was something really special about this girl. Jenny felt something in that moment too. She would never let a stranger walk her down an alley way alone. However, she trusted this man completely already. He felt like a protector and a safe place to her as he held her and the umbrella.They headed to Nikkis Thai on the Northside for dinner, and afterward made their way back to the museum only to discover Jenny’s car had been locked inside the museum gates. They laughed it off, and Brett drove her home. Thats when they shared their first kiss.The next morning he messaged her to see if he could drive her to go get her car, but her mom had already taken her to pick it up. Thats when Jennys mom said, There is something different about this one. She knew right away, just like Jenny, that Brett was an incredible man.From there everything grew quickly and naturally. They spent a summer full of quality time together; going to county fairs, graduation parties, dinner dates, cabin bonfires, and having long conversations. Their connection grew.On October 2nd, 2025, Brett asked Jenny to go for a walk at the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens. What she didn’t know was that her best friend Kelly was secretly hiding behind the bushes ready to capture on camera the moment he knelt down on one knee.And there by the water, with a beautiful art installation behind them, Brett read Jenny a handwritten letter, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. She said yes, and the rest is just the beginning of the story God has for them :)

We are so excited to celebrate our marriage with our family and friends on August 29th, 2026 for an evening filled with great food, good drinks, fun music, and irreplaceable time together as we begin this next chapter. It would mean the world to us, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Please join us for dinner starting at 6:00pm in The Frick's Community Room by the Visitor Center, have drinks on the Terrace, indulge in cookies in the Main Foyer, or take a stroll in the Car &amp; Carriage Museum between 6:30 and 7:30pm. Guests may also explore the grounds to see the Greenhouse and many of the other historical buildings at their leisure.
